Who we are
This website is operated by Damen Schelde Marine Services B.V., trading as Schelde Engine Services. We are the controller of the personal data described below.

What we collect
We only collect personal data that you give us yourself, plus the technical data our server needs to serve the website.
- Contact form. Your name, e-mail address, telephone number (optional) and the content of your message. Submissions are stored in the website database and sent to our service mailbox.
- Server logs. Your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request and your browser type. Our hosting provider records these to keep the site running and secure.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your details to answer your question, prepare a quotation and deliver our services. The legal basis is the performance of an agreement or steps taken prior to it (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and keeping the site secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are kept for 24 months after our last contact with you, unless they have become part of a commercial relationship, in which case the statutory retention periods apply. Server logs are kept short term by our hosting provider.
Who else processes your data
We use a small number of suppliers who process data on our behalf:
- Combell (Netherlands and Belgium) hosts this website and its database.
- Microsoft 365 handles our e-mail, including the messages sent by the contact form.
- Akismet (Automattic) checks form submissions for spam. To do so, the content of a submission is sent to Automattic for assessment.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Content loaded from third parties
Some parts of this website are loaded from other providers. When that happens, your IP address is sent to them:
- Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts supply the typefaces used across the site.
- Google Maps shows the map on our contact page. Google may set cookies through this service.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Write to service@scheldeengineservices.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Changes
We may update this statement when the website or our way of working changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
