When an engine is down, the cost is measured in hours
An engine that will not start, will not hold load, runs hot, knocks, smokes, loses compression or trips on a safety system is telling you something. Reading that correctly, quickly, is the whole job. Our engineers work through a structured diagnosis: indicator and performance readings, exhaust and cooling temperatures, fuel and injection checks, crankcase inspection, turbocharger condition, and control and safety system verification. Where possible we repair on the spot. Where a component has to come out, we arrange removal, transport and reconditioning, and we tell you honestly what can be done alongside the vessel’s schedule and what cannot.
Typical situations
- Loss of power or inability to reach rated load
- Abnormal exhaust temperatures across cylinders
- Knocking, vibration or unusual noise
- High lube oil consumption or contamination
- Starting problems and air system faults
- Turbocharger surging, fouling or damage
- Repeated safety system trips
- Fuel injection irregularities and pressure loss
- Cooling water loss or overheating
- Damage assessment after an incident, for owner or insurer
What to have ready
Engine type and serial number, the vessel’s position or the site address, the symptoms, and any alarm or trip history. The more specific that is, the better prepared the engineer arrives.
